Stephanie (my little sis) and Deric first met at the W Hotel, right across the street from the White House, while they were both working there. Steph worked at the restaurant downstairs and Deric worked the bar on the rooftop floor. After they had been dating for a while, Erin and I spent part of our first “official” date at that rooftop bar! They don’t live in DC anymore, but we spent the first part of this engagement session on the roof of the W Hotel, overlooking some of DC’s best sights. After that we did some outdoor stuff and some more indoor stuff in Alexandria, at the waterfront and Vermilion in Old Town. Vermilion is another place they loved to go together—they even had a usual spot at the bar. We enjoyed having some new places to shoot and fun lighting challenges.
Erin and I will have the joy of photographing their wedding next year, and the even greater joy of welcoming a new brother (Deric) into the family.
