Need to Know
What address should I put in my GPS?
The Mansion and Grounds at Morven Park are located at 17195 Southern Planter Lane, Leesburg, VA 20176
Who is taking our photos?
We have two photographers (Nick and Erin) available for each time slot on the signup list. We will assign each family to one of us for the day!
What kind of locations would we take photos in?
Depending on the session you choose, Morven Park has a LOT of choices on its beautiful grounds for photos. There is a garden area with a beautiful iron gate and green shrubbery, a sweeping lawn speckled with trees, the steps and porch area around the Mansion, a reflecting pool, and more!
What should I bring?
Bring your well-rested self and family members, something to drink (and perhaps a few snacks!), and if you’d like, a blanket or some field games to play together, especially for young kids. Any props you’d like to include in the shoot are welcome!
What if I’m late or end up needing to change my session time?
Please plan to arrive at our meeting location 15 minutes before your scheduled start time to ensure we can say hello and get started on time. If you are running late or know you need to change your session time in advance, we will do our best to accommodate without pushing anyone else’s start times. If the schedule does not allow, the session fee is non-refundable and we will use whatever time is left in your session to take photos.
Which session should I book?
Every family has different needs, which is why we’re offering multiple options! The Mini is perfect for couples or small families with young children whose attention span is limited, or families that only want a few great images to update their online photos or annual holiday cards. The Semi is great for larger families with multiple groupings that need a little more time, or smaller families that want a variety of backdrops for their photos. And the Full is ideal for families that want lots of great photos and variety of backdrops, additional lighting / harder-to-get shots that take more time, and a no-rush experience.
When and how do I pay?
The session signups will be available until August 21st. You can reserve your time slot by signing up and change it during that time as needed. At the end of the signup period, Erin will be in touch to confirm your session time, which may vary slightly depending on which session you book. She will give you some details about the location and send a payment link at that time.
What happens if it rains?
We’ll do our best to work around any bad weather if it’s an issue. We can have a little flexibility on timing if needed, and there are a few covered areas around the mansion that will provide a beautiful backdrop for photos. You’re also always welcome to embrace the rain for your photoshoot if it would be a fun experience for the family. If you feel the setting will not work for you due to rain or storms, you may cancel your session for no fee.
What if I need to cancel?
Unless your cancelation is due to bad weather, we cannot refund session fees that have been canceled. If you are able to substitute another family for your time slot, we can always transfer your deposit to them.
