I had never photographed a surprise wedding—that is, until this night. Tim and Laura asked me to go in with them on a sneaky plan to surprise all of their friends. What was advertised as an engagement party (surprising Laura) turned into a full blown wedding celebration. Some of their family who had flown in knew what was coming. But most of the friends did not—and the looks on their faces were priceless when they found out what was about to happen.

The second best part about this wedding was having a ton of time before the surprise ceremony for portraits. It’s nice to not have to rush through portraits and to think through each shot. Erin and I left knowing we had a lot of good photos.

It’s a lot of fun to take part in epic events like this, where everyone leaves with a good story and some warm fuzzies, feeling blessed to be friends with Tim & Laura.
